Excerpt from latest book, "Uncertain Times: Voices From The Real World"

This Old House

This Old House holds so many memories,

The banisters where the children played,

The boisterous sounds from the chimney,

The figurines that adorn,

Reminding us of the Whitney,

The changing times have determined

That we have to say goodbye,

Because of high mortgage rates

and taxes that have skyrocketed through the roof,

The children will not have an inheritance,

Thanks to the floundering economy and mere happenstance,

This Old House that we’ve grown to love,

Will flitter from our hands like a lonesome dove.

Whatever Happened to Human Connections?

Has anyone noticed how cold the world has become?

People have forgotten to be human,

They spend their time criticizing each other because

Of fear and jealousy,

They get by each day on cunning hypocrisy,

What has happened to human connections?

Where people didn’t scorn each other for fear of

Acquiring an infection,

Profiling has taken the innocence away from

Connectivity,

We have become a society of paranoid, emotionless droids,

All we tend to leave behind are voids in time and space,

What ever happened to human connections?

Perhaps 9/11 has given us the right to start our own Alien Nation?Undecided

When The Bell Rings

When the bells ring, do Financiers cringe with worry?

Wondering what to tell their clients about their portfolios…

When the bell rings in the middle of the EFrownxchange,

Do the workers contemplate a plunge before

heeding the call,

These strange times have ushered in ominous falls,

Investors stand still hoping and praying that each new

day will bring positive changes,

Yet, the news still broadcasts…..

“America’s poverty is becoming outrageous!”

The Country waits with anxiety, wishing that with each flicker

of the ticker tape,

Another family gets saved,

Corporations will not “cave”,

And the Dow will not misbehave,

The signs of recovery are subtle,

If only we could hold on,

Ride the waves and ignore the knees

that buckle with nervous tension.

Death of A Rock Star

All the jewels,

All the finery,

The expensive cars

and the wineries,

could not prevent the untimely death

of a rock star,

He felt ill

and staggered through the halls,

like any ordinary person,

and died a regular death,

Disappearing like a phantom.......

Shabbos Ranking

In a time where people have lost their

faith,

G-D is closer than ever,

Talking to us in ways that are clever,

Telling us it is cool to seek our true religion,Innocent

while we watch and wait for his return,

He's always with us whether we are alive

or exiled to an urn.

Remembering Haiti

Once a country of beautiful landscapes,

green lush mountains and lakes flowing through,

Now has been overshadowed by devastation and deluge,

The picturesque beaches that offered respite from warm

tropical days, have become bombarded by Haitains

seeking a place to stay,

A proud, and dignified people haved been taken from a state

of prosperity,

Entrenched in death, carnage and nature's fury,

A Country has lost its peace and joy,

There is no security for little girls and boys,

Uncertainty looms in their future,

Yet, redemption can come from unsuspected allies,

Haiti will be strong again if people remember the hospitality

it once offered,

Instead of turning their backs and leaving the cries for HELP ignored.Cool

Death of a Thespian

Creative, flamboyant and filled with joie de vivre,

Expressing feelings freely.

While teaching others to emote,

through movement and words carefully

formulated from the mouth,

A life well lived,

with awards and accolades,

Then sickness sets in and one

is diverted from the stage,

The lights get dimmed as the life force quickly

passes away,

Leaving fans grief stricken,

because there will never be

another Performance Day.
